I had the same issue as @jsneeb was showing in his video. Only the blue LED was on, when it was connected to the esc.
I also followed the instructions @zjwhitehead gave using the Particle Debugger. From the Terminal output it seems like it was at least successful to load the images, but unfortunately it is still dead. Here is the terminal output:
