SP140 v1 spar dimensions?

I damaged two of my v1 carbon fiber spars, and want to replace them. It’s my understanding that the shop doesn’t sell v1 spars any more, so I need to source my own.

My measurements were:

  • inner diameter: 9 mm
  • outer diameter: 12.5 mm
  • vertical spar length: 595 mm
  • upper horizontal spar length: 573 mm
  • lower horizontal spar length: 600 mm

Could anyone confirm those are the right numbers? Has anyone got a good source to recommend? Thanks.

I have a full spare spar set. SP140 V1. Located in Australia. child.evan@gmail.com

Since you have the full set, any way you could confirm those measurements for him, @Kitedude ?

@nfairfield – I believe I still have some of my v1 spars, but not all. I broke a few on a bad landing and ended up moving to the v2 frame earlier this year, but I believe I still have at least some of them wrapped up on the garage somewhere. If Evan isn’t able to grab those measurements for us then I’ll take a look and let you know.

I can confirm that your mesurements are correct, just measured mine:

  • inner diameter: 9 mm
  • outer diameter: 12.5 mm
  • vertical spar length: 595 mm
  • upper horizontal spar length: 573 mm
  • lower horizontal spar length: 600 mm
Don’t know where to find them though. But carbon pipe can be found I guess, being a popular material.

Thank you @Jackal!

Re @JustFloating: I’m also planning to upgrade to the v2, but I figured I’d see what I can do to repair the v1.

Are you interested in selling your spare v1 spars? I damaged a few of mine and am looking to buy some.

Feel free to DM me, I have a few extra

I have bought bulk long sections of carbon fiber spars from McMaster-Carr. Unfortunately they are a bit pricy but just stop breaking them

I also ended up buying some CF tubes (ID 8mm, OD 12mm), which means they’re a little thinner but have thicker walls. I haven’t fit them on the frame yet.

@jsneeb – I didn’t think of McMaster-Carr! I’m guessing you went with 5287T81 (McMaster-Carr)?
