Need help with updating on a MacBook

can anyone walk me through up dating my controller on a MacBook? I downloaded chrome and can connect to the controller but will not up date? what am I missing?

Not sure if Mac is much different from the Windows process, and the post is quite old but I just went through it last weekend and here it is, in case it helps somebody:

  • plug in the remote controller by cable to your laptop, the screen should turn on but show 0 battery
  • go to OpenPPG SP140 Configurator - OpenPPG Config
  • click the blue Connect button to confirm the connectivity and read the current settings from the remote (Left/Right hand, Altitude units…)
  • Scroll down and click the yellow “Reboot in update mode” button

Now the tricky part: the remote will switch to “update” mode and your PC should discover it as a new storage drive, in Windows it opens the drive window automatically or you open “My Computer” to see it, I guess Mac should be similar, maybe a new device on the desktop? I expected the website to upload the firmware automatically since it can talk to the device, but it looks like this step needs to be done manually outside of the web page.

Once you open the device, you should see some files, including “current.uf2”:

  • (optional) make a copy of the current.uf2 file to somewhere on your computer
  • download the new firmware from the section above the yellow button (the page should show if you’re using RP or SAMD21 hardware. Make sure you download the same kind. I downloaded the most recent for my SAMD21 version: 5.9. It saved locally as OpenPPG-CM0-SP140.uf2
  • Copy the newly downloaded file to the controller’s “drive”.
  • The controller will detect the new file and reboot
  • The controller restarts automatically back in normal mode so you can connect to it again using the blue “Connect” button and see/edit the new settings.

Ok … did this exactly and still doesn’t work ? What is happening ? So frustrating

Does the controller show up as a Drive on your desktop when you plug it in?

It does when I tap the yellow reboot bar at the bottom per the instructions

Ok ! Got it all figured out ! Was trying to load RP but needed SAMD21 for the v1 controller ! Also can only update to 5.7 (was 5.3) loaded 5.9 an 5.8 , everything worked right except the controller BATTERY error ! I really wanted the arm/disarm on that ! The double click is finicky :smiling_face: anyway figured it out and all is good
