Last SP flight of 2024

Nice flight! Those locking devices on the ring look great, what are they called? And how did you mount them, with bolts going through the whole alu pipe of the ring? I use O rings between two bolts.

I had to bend the hook section to shape it to the hoop tube profile. Then I drilled through the hoop tube and bolted the latches Amazon.com

They looks a great idea but in my opinion better outside of the cage.
Imagine that the clamp open in the middle of the flight by accident, the prop will be damage serious.

They can’t open if properly tensioned. I have been flying with them for years. Even if one of the 9 latches was to fail or inadvertently open, the hoop sections would still stay in place as they are pulled inward by the tightened net. The original inner connectors are still inside the hoop section ends. Basically it is an added safety feature on the original design. It could be refined even more by using rounded nuts on the outside but again I never ran into a single issue with the system. Placing the latch on the outside of the hoop would be asking for trouble - snagging the lines. Note that I do not dismantle my SP and keep it assembled. I do not recommend anyone to do it - only showing what I did for myself. I like tinkering with my machines😄

I added a couple photos of the latches
