I'm Scared of 24s

PG is all foot launch since 1989, and I have flown a variety of powered HG’s since

1977; but Foot launch with those machines is also my preferred method for getting

airborne.

The glider I want to power is a 15m , (49.2-ft ) span Atos VRX that gets a (19 : 1 ) L/D

and I believe the newest E-Paramotor SP140 V2.5 , will be perfect for my project !!!

The Question :

I am Fine with handling a 12s LIPO , (or ION) as the voltage does not scare me , and I

use them a lot in my T-Rex 800 Heli ; 24s is a different story , and I will be building my

own packs from the newest EVE 21700 50PL. The 50PL had bin tested to 180a , and

can take 125a continuous.

If I build 2 packs, in a 12s , 4p configuration and connect each pack to one side of the

ESC with a big honking manual switch between them to complete the circuit for the

100v series ; would that be a good or Dumb idea ?

My propeller pitch speed will be different on the rigid wing ; can someone

tell me the Max speed your PG flies at , with the V2.5 setup ?

Thanks : Bille

The answer will vary based on the aircraft, for a PPG speed is limited by the glider wing to under 30mph. I have my PPG on a trike and on the ground on a hard surface I could easily move at 50mph.

I did some homework and found out that 24s has nothing to be scared of ; as long as it is handled properly. The fear was from ignorance , and now I think instead of building my own packs , I will just save for a bit longer and purchase the stock battery system.

Can the smaller packs be hooked up in parallel ; I’m hoping they can so I can target the perfect size for my build ? Because my wing is so efficient ; I may not need as many KWH of power.

This is Great information as my Atos can fly at 22mph with reduced control ; but gets its best L/D at 32. If your propeller pitch speed is 50mph , then I only need another 13mph of pitch to, stay within the legal 55kt for ultralights.

What propeller are you using please ?

As for the stock prop for the SP140, you will have to ask Openppg, the prop pitch is not marked on the Eprop.
