10-15% less efficient (=>less flight time) compared to a single prop.
Yeah, I saw this a few weeks ago. Yeah, small prop coaxial setups are definitely going to be less efficient. What’s really crazy is how much it weighs. I’m not sure how they managed to make it weigh so much—it almost seems like a typo.
They say it weighs 75 lbs with a 2.5 kWh battery, which is nearly the same as the SP140 with its 4.8 kWh battery. So that means the flight time is going to be at minimum 45% less. Then, stacking on top of that the 110 cm props in a coaxial setup, it’s probably going to drop it down another 20%, if not more. So I would expect it to have around 50–60% less flight time while being nearly the same weight.
The no torque is cool, but the smaller props really take a big hit to efficiency, which is partly why we moved away from the X4 design. Cool to see new stuff coming out though.
Probably a steel cage, dual motors, dual esc and quirky motor mounts add a bit to its weight. They mention battery quick release, which is nice. But I dont see it being quick as you have two screws that you need to unscrew, besides they are all the way down close to the stand, no way you could reach that with both hands during emergency.
