Hi Need advise - had a mishap on launch and damaged my frame hoop, Spars etc .. now see that the Centre Frame that support the Spars have also bent ! Is this fixable?
You can definitely bend it back a bit if you need, but if you do that a bunch of times it will be weakened. But if it was me, I would bend it back for now, and if you do need a replacement later on that can be done.
What is frame made off ? .. maybe can get someone to weld! .. will order new just for incase ![]()
How do you discharge the battery if don’t have a cage and can’t really use the prop ?
Paul, are the frames heat treated after welding?
Bend it back and wrap in casting material and it will be stronger than original
Yeah, the frames are heat treated after welding.
@HennieErwee To discharge the battery, you can leave it plugged in while the unit is off; it will discharge slowly over time. Alternatively, you can run the motor without the propeller to discharge it faster, though note that the propeller provides a higher load and speeds up the process significantly.
thanks
ps what is casting material ??
I would not trust any kind of non-welded or plastic/resin repair to be adequate strength for this repair. If the weld is cracked it should be TIG welded back together. If not cracked, apply a controlled clamping force using boards and clamps to bent it back to original position, do not try to manually put a rod in the socket and brute force bend it or you risk breaking the weld completely. Take it from someone who has 20 years of experience straightening aluminum frames.
