Broke. frame on all four conectors

Help. please. after relative soft but landing. Frame only shortly tuch and prop is ok but frame came apart. these plastic connecters are disapointing. it has a rivet in to keep it in place but in fact just makes it vunerable. Anyway, if someone knows how to remove these stuck in the frame it would be a great help. tryed screw in and pulled two out but the remaining is impossible. kind regars jannik

Best bet is to drill them out. I tried all manner of method to tease the broken ones out of mine the first time, and drilling ended up being by far the easiest option.

I’ve broken several sets over the years. I think a big part of the failures for me is due to the stress of transporting it. It’s very much in the airflow when mounted on my vehicle, I usually drive >1hr to my LZ, and a large portion of that time is at 80mph down the highway. One of the tiedowns I use connects to the top of the frame and gives some support from the stress of the drag, but I can see that joint physically flexing apart a small amount when I’m driving.

I originally was looking to get some metal rods to replace the plastic ones, but ultimately I didn’t want to make that joint of the frame fully rigid in case of a bad landing. I ended up finding some wooden dowels that fit fairly snugly, which have been working perfect for >year now.

Be glad that those plastic inserts broke. The older frame has similar ones and they dont break, instead you bend the whole buttom frame and trust me, it is way harder to fix the frame compared to just incert new ones.

but why not make a mufler like on mcfly or airconception or flyproduct. so that top frame glide on bottom frame.these plastic conectors have a rivet inside so breaks easily

so wooden connectors. thats wild. do they not atract moisture. can you show me. I have thought about aluminium ones and even welding a mufler on top frame to be able to slide on the lower frame

I don’t have any pictures that really show them, as they’re not really visible anyway unless I pull apart the top & bottom frame sections. I’ve checked on them a few times, but haven’t noticed any degradation at all. But my unit is kept in climate control and I’m not in a coastal environment, etc. So if you’re somewhere very humid I could see that being a concern over time.

I just picked up some sizes that seemed pretty close from Home Depot, and cut to size the one that fit snugly.
