Beep boop - 7.6 firmware is out for the V2.5 SP140

I just released v7.6 for the latest ESP32-based controllers. This release adds some nice rider feedback improvements, especially around ESC lights and motor tones, along with a few reliability fixes under the hood.

Arm and disarm motor tones

The ESC now gives motor tone feedback when arming and disarming. The audio cues have also been polished so the arm/disarm flow feels more intentional and easier to confirm. This works by using the brushless motor itself as a speaker. The ESC rapidly switches the MOSFETs that drive the motor phases, sending short pulses through the windings at audible frequencies. That makes the motor vibrate enough to create tones, similar to the startup beeps you may have heard from hobby drone ESCs.

Better ESC status feedback

For the latest version of the ESC, the new status light is activated and now has clearer patterns for different states, including disarmed, warning, critical, and in-flight. This should make it easier to understand what the controller is doing at a glance.

UI polish

Dark mode saw a small readability improvement, with better contrast for the center divider.

Reliability, cleanup, and UI polish

This release fixes some I2C bus contention issues by moving sensor reads onto safer cached values. It also includes cleanup around state transitions, cruise handoff behavior, ESC feedback, telemetry, and monitoring paths.

Dark mode also got a small readability improvement, with better contrast for the center divider.
