Bad series. Anywhere / anyone to get it repaired?

Hey all I have a 3.7kw OpenPPG v1.5 battery that has a bad #6 series. Delta v of over 1.3v. .8v when fully charged

I bought the unit assembled but never flown, and the BMS confirms that the battery has only 1 cycle. I think I have a similar problem to this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1E7jlidoLrk) with either a bad cell or bad connections from the factory.

I do not feel super comfortable taking the battery apart and diagnosing the issue, but was wondering if anyone knows of anyone in the community or a shop that could help me. Thanks!

My video but this is not your problem. In another thread your screenshot shows 3.3V in group 6. Here you already have 2.6! if you go below 2,5V you will start damaging the cells in that group. I am not in US so cannot help you. But it is not that hard if you have access to R/C charger or power supply.

Yes the 2.6 was before charging. 3.3 after charging

I hope this isn’t too late but I’d reach out to Paul about this.

Otherwise, there is one trick that’s not too involved you can try if you have a lipo charger, a multimeter and some wire:

I had an issue with Cell group 19 being too low:

If you open up the battery, you can access the balance leads at the top. Then you can use a multimeter to find which 2 wires correspond to the right cell group and use a JSP2.0 Ph 2-pin connector to connect to those wires and charge that cell group with a lipe charger you would otherwise use for an RC car or drone.

It will take hours and hours, but you can eventually balance it to the same level as the rest.

Unfortunately, even if you do this, it will be out of balance again after the next flight.

Yes I did reach out to Paul but he was unable to help.

This is great advice. I will order that connector and give it a a go.

So for your #19, even when you balance, the battery returns to its low level after flight?

Yes, the cells were unbalanced again after a flight although I’ve only tried this for one flight while I was waiting for a replacement battery and I haven’t used it again since.

The cell group with the lower voltage must be damaged and will have a lower capacity so it’s bound to drain faster than the rest. I think the long term solution would be to take apart the battery and replace the cells but 1 battery is enough for me and I’m afraid of burning my house down
