What do you guys think of axial flux motors? They claim to be more efficient (5x).
The efficiency of the motors we use is around 90% I think. Hard to get 5X better than that. Even the old brushed DC motors in power tools are over 60%.
Reading the article I see that the promise is 4-5X the mass power density. I.e. same power in a much lighter package. A big improvement but the batteries are our biggest limitation.
