Anyone have the file on these pieces?
I have e a question about materials for printing these. My tech guy decided to make one that is super flexible, almost like a rubber band. Is there something I need to worry about, like the knots working their way thru? Have yinz tested this out? If not, ill let you know how it goes. Ive broken 3 of these already.
If he is using TPU, I would think that is not a good idea as the line holder requires the string hole to be firm and not stretch which would allow the knot to pull through. I’d use PTEG or ABS or even plain old PLA, these will all hold the knot.
It is TPU. I flew with it the last two days without issue, but it is just one piece in the ring. I have to disassemble and reassemble every time I fly, so I break them somewhat often. Ive already printed 2 and need to print 2 more. Broke one during Installation. I think just a little more flex than what shipped is the magic formula. I dont know much about 3d printing yet.
You might try 100% infill with PLA or PETG in your 3d print to make them stronger since many slicers default to 15%. On my net keepers, I put a piece of duct tape on each so they fit snugly in the cage section, then I carefully Z fold the pieces with netting attached into a bundle and vecro strap to keep them together
I do have what I think is a good solution for those who regularly break down their frames for transport and want to keep their netting rods in the tube sections.
This makes it simple to set the rods in place and tighten a screw to hold them securely. If they need to be removed again, it’s easy—just loosen the screw. Anyone can make this modification using their existing net rods by simply drilling a small hole anywhere on the rod and tightening down the TPU holder.
I will probably make this the default going forward with the netting rods and SP140 V2 frames.
Thanks for the detailed pics, lll give this a go. You also reminded me, got to send a print file to my buddy for another hoop connector and hoop clamp. Broke those this weekend. The connector during disassemble and broke a hook clamp on a butt landing. I have a small car, limited flying skills, and need to invest in a 3d printer.
