With this system you have easy to connect the pack, and if single cells fail easy to replace.
VRUZEND kit cannot handle the current required here.

Yeah, Vruzend looked promising, but the amp rating is too low…3.5A per cell, topping at 5A.
NESE looks like a promising option. 1S6P test by the creator handled 120A ok.

Had a look at Powercell’s battery pack. 810 cells!..
Now that’s a pack! Doesn’t seem bulky on the machine. Neat package. 70 minutes fly time.
I’ve got my hands on some 18650 cells that should do the trick, as long as they’re in a big enough pack to keep the C-rate down around 2 peaking at 6. Really high energy density too. Spot welding tabs will be the way to go for sure.
I’ll test those our and report back. Will be nice and compact, rigid and structurally sound…
Boys - If I were to go the 18650 route (which I consider the Pro-Build option),I’d go for these cells. Don’t buy off e-bay!

A 12S10P pack would consist of 120 of these batteries which would give you your rated max of 300Amp discharge for take-off and have a 31,000 mAH capacity
By my calculations, It’d weigh in at 5.1KG and give you a 15 minute flight time.
Double that to 12S20P and you should get… Well. Double that. ish… While being much kinder on the battery.
Personally. The Vruzend and to a much lesser extent, NESE systems, haven’t got tremendously positive user reviews for high current applications like this kind of thing. Read a discussion on the NESE from where it all started - N.E.S.E. the no solder module - Endless Sphere
To go the 18650 route, you’d need a high current BMS to keep things under control and a specialised power supply to charge it with. Mind you. The 18650 chemistry is a lot ‘safer’. Also a lot more time consuming to build - Hence a lot of the cost of ‘off-the-shelf’ e-PPG systems currently on the market. But once built, a lot more ‘user-friendly’ for the consumer.

I am still debating with myself and 2 other personalities in my head if I should go the one motor, two, or four motor route. The quality and dependability of a electric over ICE is such that I am now thinking one motor would be good - follow the KISS rule – sorry off topic
Batteries - since I am thinking i would like a trike now - I am looking at bigger packs.

130WH/kg - so 2.9kW??- not as great as others and at ~50lbs it is considerable weight
This type of cell - retanglelish - gives optimized use of space.
Maybe someone could run the #'s - I suck at that.

You gave us a link to a single cell, you would need 12 of those to power OpenPPG at the correct voltage.

@E-pusher I added it to the bottom of the sheet. I could be missing something (make sure the “User Generated Values” are correct), but it looks a lot heavier than our premade packs, and doesn’t provide more flight time than if you were to just add more lipos.

@DanielArnett the Battery Pack from Paracell, as @CrypTunico posted, may be for sale as a single unit by itself. I contacted Javier (the person behind Paracell) in a post on the Paramotor Group at Facebook, suggesting that he should be selling them by itself, and he replied that I should contact him for a price (which I did not yet).
@CrypTunico did you take those photos yourself? why did you take the battery pack apart?
I would also like to hear how much this weighs, and whether it’s the correct voltage for OpenPPG (44-48 V)
I also think, that the BMS is very important - can you tell us the model/type and manufacturer of the BMS, if you have access to it?
Etienne, the battery photos I took from Javier (Paracell) Facebook page, during the assembly process. About the BMS I’m sorry, I don’t know. I’m a complete noob about electical systems.
