Questions about PPG in Canada

Wow, that’s not really much lighter than a gas job, is it?

Not with that many batteries but there are tons of other advantages over gas.

Hmmm, Interesting.

Is it possible to run it on short flights with just 2 batteries? I read somewhere on here that
they tend to overheat, but if the flights were short (say 5 mins or less) and have another 2
fully charged and waiting to swap out. What I’m thinking is doing short flights to get through
the training requirements. But I don’t know if my instructor would allow it.

He tends to think that if I can’t do the training with a regular gas engine, then I need to find
another sport.

Anyway, thanks for your comments.
Happy flying.

If physical conditioning is the issue then … you may want to wait until you can go to a trike.
Yes shorter flights with lighter gear might be your answer. Don’t be afraid to check with another instructor if you can. What sort of 2 stroke were you training with?
If you are able to learn to launch with an openPPG on 2 batteries (lighter, no torque, no throttle lag) then you still have some learning and training to do (handle the weight, manage the torque, manage the power) if you move to a 2 stroke for longer flights.
OTOH maybe stick to paragliding! No motor at all!

I was doing training with a snap 100 motor on an old Fresh Breeze frame.
From what I am able to gather, what I was using is lighter than most gas engines.

yes, going with no motor at all seems tempting at this point.

Although I’ve never done that either.

I could find a bunny hill and try some short flights, I suppose.

Thanks,
Take care.
